Monforte

The oldest human occupation known in the region of Monforte dates from the Neolithic, when several dolmens were built. In the Roman era, it was a land with large and resilient estates, such as Torre de Palma. In the Middle Ages, the castles of Monforte and Assumar became part of the defence network against Castille.
