About

Fernão Vaz 2

The archaeological site of Fernão Vaz 2 refers to a dolmen with a pear-shaped/elongated chamber approximately 2.9 meters long and a short corridor. The ensemble was covered with a tumulus (semi-circular artificial mound) made of earth and stone with a circular plan.

This funerary monument, destined for the collective burial of a human community, may date from the Late Neolithic or the Early Chalcolithic (3rd millennium B.C.). The threshold stone is the only part of the funerary chamber that remains in its original position.
