About

Alcaria 2

The site of Alcaria 2 corresponds to a small necropolis dating from the Bronze Age (2nd millennium B.C.) and is composed of three funerary structures with circular plans. Although it is significantly damaged, mainly due to modern agricultural developments, it is possible to perceive that this burial site originated from a main funerary monument, later joined by smaller ones.

This type of monument, usually of individual nature, was composed of a cist (box made of slabs) or pit, where individuals were placed in foetal or lateral recumbency position together with funerary items, like ceramic pieces, for example, and later covered with a tumulus (artificial semi-circular mound), to make it stand out in the landscape.
