O Batistério II
Baptistery II has a rectangular plan with an equally rectangular tripartite apse. In the middle of the building, we find an octagonal baptismal pool covered with marble surrounded by a marble barrier.
This Baptistery must have been built in the 5th or 6th centuries, at the same time as the rest of the Religious Complex, although the present-day flooring is made of limestone, which may correspond to a later renovation of the circulation level.
This building was used until the 10th or 11th century, even though we do not know if it maintained its original function. Its ceiling was adorned with paintings, as the fragments of stucco painted with human figures discovered during the archaeological excavation seem to confirm.

Prepare your visit
Entrance to Baptistery II in the Religious Complex is free. Access is made through the Old Cemetery way or by a wooden boardwalk departing from the slope of the Castle area.
Children should always be accompanied by a responsible adult.
