About

Alcaria 1A and 1B

The archaeological site of Alcaria, chronologically placed in the Bronze Age (2nd millennium B.C.), is composed of two zones (A and B), very close to each other. The first area (A) corresponds to a necropolis, built around a large individual funerary monument with a circular plan, 6 meters wide. Over the years, other monuments of the same type, but smaller, were built leaning on the main one.

Area B is a schist building with a rectangular plan; it is poorly preserved, hindering its correct functional classification. It can be a remain from a settlement because habitation areas could be very close to the necropolises in the First Southwestern Bronze Age or a place of worship related to the funerary practices of the neighbouring Alcaria 1A necropolis.
